BackIn this video tutorial, I will show you how to remove background from an image using GIMP 2.10.
There are many different ways to remove a background from an image using GIMP 2.10. We could use a layer mask or the foreground select tool. Both of these methods are good but for the best and most accurate results, it is better to use the Paths tool.
The "Paths" tool allows you to create more complex selections using Bézier Curves, it is a bit like the Lasso tool but with all the adaptability of vectorial curves.
You can edit your curve, you can paint with your curve, or even save, import, and export the curve.
You can also use paths to create custom geometrical figures.

Remove background from an image
In GIMP there are a few different ways to remove a background from an image. I prefer to use the paths tool as this is one of the most accurate tools for removing backgrounds. For more simple backgrounds you can use the fuzzy select tool. The advantage of using the paths select tool is you can re-edit the selection and save the selection in the GIMP file for future edits.
A layer mask is also another accurate method of creating a selection, once a selection is done then you can use a layer mask to isolate the selected content and remove the background. The layer mask can also be edited if required, but I still prefer to use the paths tool whenever possible.
