BackWe all want to be more effective with our writing, engage our readers, and understand the psychology of compelling writing.
Here, Robert Cialdini explains the six weapons of influence in The Psychology of Persuasion.
By persuading your reader to agree with you early on in your writing, it becomes more difficult for them to disagree later on.
Once you're on the same wavelength, it’s easier for them to continue reading, and doing so in agreement.
According to Cialdini, we all have an inbuilt sheep mentality, so by reaching out with a persuasive quote or a mention of other satisfied customers, any perceived risks of a decision will be eliminated.
Other tips include: be relatable, compliment your readers, and use vocabulary that is easy to understand.
Increase your credibility using statistics; including details makes you as an author more believable and trustworthy, in turn making your writing more captivating.
The infographic below, from Gunning Marketing, explains these concepts in more details.
