In this video tutorial I will show you how to shorten URLs using Google URL shortener.
You often see a custom shorten URL when you view posts on social media accounts. The reason for shortening the URL is to make it easier to view and re-share. Also Twitter limits the amount of characters which can be entered in a tweet so shortening a URL can also give you more space for a more concise message. Using Google URL shortener will also give you some statistics on how many clicks the URL has received, web clicks came from i.e. Facebook. Twitter, Google+, other website and finally the location of the user who clicked your link. Mostly this information can also be gathered using Google analytics, but at DCP find this a great way to track short URLs which are posted on our social media accounts.
