6 super tips for sharing your blog posts on social media

Sharing blog posts on social media can help to generate traffic to your business website, but doing this correctly can get your better results.

If you create a blog post and share it once on social media then your chances of generating traffic will be minimal.

A good idea is to split your blog post content into the sections:

  • Headline
  • Quotes
  • images
  • Questions and Answers
  • Statistics

By breaking your content into sections you can create multiple social contents for a single blog post. Use different messages and images which will help with A/B testing. Keep track of what is working so you can plan future social posts more effectively.

Adding visual content to your social posts can improve user engagement. Remember users are scrolling through hundreds of posts a day so your content must stand out. Try to be creative to distinguish your business from your competitors. You can use different types of visual content such as:

  • Quote Boxes
  • Images
  • Infographics
  • Charts
  • GIFs
  • Screenshots

There is not much point is sharing content on social if you are not tracking stats to see what is working. You need to understand what is engaging with potential customers to improve your content marketing.

Most of the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest have in-built statistics. It would also be a good idea to incorporate Google Analytics to gather all your website stats in a single location for a better overview.

Use popular URL shorteners like Bitly or TinyURL to reduce the size of long links. Blog posts tend to have long links which consume space on social media posts. URL shorteners help to keep content in posts cleaner.

To engage with other social media users, use hashtags to tag people, brands and influencers where appropriate. If tags are used correctly then you have a chance of a popular social media user re-sharing your content to a bigger audience. Used incorrectly and it will just look like SPAM and get you blocked!

Randomly posting your content is not the best idea. You want to control when your content is posted on social media. You can use paid tools like Hootsuite to create a bulk social media posting schedule.

YouTube and Facebook have built it tools to schedule posts, so this may be a good option if you are a new start-up business.
